SWFM

The Smart Workflow Manager (SWFM) is being developed to demonstrate advanced workflow management strategies in the domain of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconaisance (ISR) Management. The project is being funded under DARPA's Advanced ISR Management project. The projects is researching the following key areas:

SWFM advances a number of techniques which were developed at SRI and CIRL. SWFM uses SRI's PRS system to provide a reactive controller which decides which tasks and processes should be enacted, suspended, modified, or deleted. The selected tasks and processes are then passed over to CIRL's Dynamic Execution Order (DEO) scheduler which decides on the appropriate resources and temporal duration. The DEO scheduler itself is based on CIRL's "Squeaky Wheel Optimization" technology.

CIRL

CIRL is a subcontractor to SRI. CIRL is developing the DEO scheduler and its interface with the PRS reactive manager. In addition CIRL is working with SRI on the development of the SWFM architecture and its possible use within other DARPA programs related to logistics, air campaign planning, crisis management, etc.
